Neutrons are found in the nuclei of all atoms except hydrogen, and in neutron stars. Neutrons are thought to make up about 13% of the matter in the visible universe.

We think there were about equal numbers of protons and neutrons in the very early universe, but NEUTRONS that are not bound in nuclei or neutron stars are radioactive and changed into PROTONS in about fifteen minutes, so most of them were lost.

Some stars (more massive than our sun) will become neutron stars about five miles in diameter.
